Jellyfin

Jellyfin is an open-source media manager most closely comparable to Plex or Emby (Jellyfin was actually forked from Emby at some point). It runs on a server-client model, meaning all the good shit is in one place and multiple clients can access the files from anywhere with connectivity.

How to use?

At its most basic, you just need to go to the URL I set up, and you can stream directly through your browser.

The video quality of what is available ranges from potato all the way to 4K. Depending on the file and browser that you use, web streaming may not be able to direct play. This means that my server has to translate the video on-the-fly, AND you will likely be watching a buttery-smooth 4K video sanded down to 1080p.

The best way to avoid that is to try using the official apps available on their website:

I can only personally speak to the desktop app - I use it daily, and it handles everything I throw at it very well. I hear positive things about the other apps, but… I dunno.

Jellyseer

This lets you do two things:

1. Discover new shows/movies

2. Make a request

No seriously, you click the Request button and it emails me. If you added a valid email to your account, you should (in turn) get emails back when the Request is approved/denied and fulfilled.
